Canadian cities of Brampton and Pickering would be celebrating Rakshabandhan with fervour this year. The cities have officially acknowledged Rakshabandhan, which will be celebrated on August 10.
Brampton Mayor Susan Fennell and Pickering Mayor Ryan would be present to celebrate Rakshabandhan in different locations in their respective cities.
Daniel Masih, campaign director, Rakshabandhan Day (Brother-Sister Day), said he would like to make the special day as big as Mothers Day and Fathers Day.
“It’s is a great honour for myself to introduce Rakshabandhan to all nationalities in Canada. I have grown up with this tradition. I will want to make this day as big as Mothers Day and Fathers Day, now we will have Brother Sister Day (Rakshabandhan Day),” Masih said.
