Sonam Chhabra turned heads at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, not for the premiere of *Die, My Love*—which earned a six-minute standing ovation—but for her striking tribute to honour Indian soldiers and victims of terrorism while walking the red carpet in a powerful ensemble design. Her look featured a silver strapless breastplate-style bodice, a white draped skirt, and a flowing cape inscribed with the names of terror attacks: “Mumbai 2008, Uri 2016, Pulwama 2019, Pahalgam 2025.” Bold silver jewellery and a tiara completed the symbolic statement. Chhabra’s appearance sparked mostly praise with some criticism, using global fashion to pay homage to national sacrifice. The ones who critiqued her were the out-of-date, typical RSS types who are clueless about how global publicity attention and narratives work to raise issues, especially when they can’t even raise these issues in their own local streets or towns. This is why professional media and think tanks need to be set up to win the narrative, especially when global protests and action from Hindus and others are rising more and more.
