‘Demolition of Ram Sethu bridge will bring loss to India’ says Shankaracharya

PONDA: The demolition of ‘Ram Sethu’, a bridge of the Ramayana era, by the Union government would bring immense loss to India, the 145th Pithadeeshwar of Sree Govardhan Mutt Puri, Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Nischalanand Saraswati stated.

Sree Nischalanand Saraswati Maharaj was addressing a ‘Dharma sabha’, a mass religious awakening meet, at Marcaim village panchayat ground, on Sunday evening.

Addressing thousands of Hindus from the state, Nischalanand Maharaj stated that Ram Setu can adequately resist tsunami-like natural disasters from the southern side. The Setu is a source of thorium which could make India prosperous. But the Union government is pleading before the Supreme Court to demolish it, Swamiji claimed.

In his spiritual guidance, Nischalanand Saraswati claimed the core problem of every living being is fear of death. He said each one wants to win victory over death.

“Mrityu ki chapet se vimukt ve aisa jeevan chahate hain jahan mrityu ki chhaya bhi pahunch naa sake” (He want’s a life where even the shadow of death could not reach), the Maharaj said. He also stressed that the ideology of development as prescribed by the Sanatan Vedic Dharma should be adopted to save the world from ongoing destruction in the name of development.

Earlier, Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar with his wife performed puja of swami padukas, PWD minister Ramkrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar welcomed the Shankaracharya by garlanding him while state deputy speaker Anant Shet expressed his views on the Dharma sabha
