Oh gosh, those idol-worshipping heathen pagans whose satanic Hindu numerals we use that’s advanced all technology and science we are using are back again.

Back in September, Indian scientists at Antarctica’s Maitri research station, roughly 15,000 kilometres away from India.celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi by crafting a snow deity-murti of Lord Ganesha. Instagram user Anirudh Dhar, who works at the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) in Goa, shared a video capturing the celebration at Maitri Station in Antarctica. Despite being surrounded by snow and harsh conditions, the scientists managed to bring a little bit of home to the polar station.

They made a handmade deity of Lord Ganesha from snow and carefully decorated it with a garland and small flowers. The group then gathered for traditional Hindu rituals, performing the pooja inside the station before carrying out the visarjan. They could be heard chanting “Ganpati Bappa Morya” loudly as they prayed, clapped and celebrated together.

Towards the end, the scientists sat down to enjoy handmade modaks, adding a familiar festive touch to the celebration.

Sharing the video, Anirudh described the celebration as taking “eco-friendly immersion” to a whole new extreme, 15,000 km away from home, calling their handmade snow Bappa “about as sustainable as it can get.”
