Man Arrested After Allegedly Threatening To Behead Rep.Tulsi Gabbard

A man was arrested Wednesday and handed over to the FBI after allegedly threatening to behead Rep. Tulsi Gabbard. According to local reports, the man, Aniruddha Sherbow, sent his threats directly to the FBI via email. He was found in Tijuana, Mexico.

Sherbow has threatened Gabbard before. In 2011, a judge issued a three-year restraining order against Sherbow, who made abusive phone calls and sent threatening text messages to Gabbard when she was a city councilwoman in Honolulu. Prior to his arrest, Sherbow actually told a local Hawaii paper what was in his email: “I, Aniruddha Sherbow, with the Divine as my witness, do hereby solemnly vow to find Tulsi Gabbard, wheresoever she may be, and to sever her head from her body.” The FBI said at the time that they were aware of and investigating the threat.

Gabbard was the first Hindu woman to be elected to Congress, and along with Tammy Duckworth, one of the first female combat veterans in Congress. She is also the vice chair of the Democratic National Committee. Her press secretary, Heather Fluit, said Gabbard is “grateful for the work of the U.S. Capitol Police, FBI and all law enforcement officers involved in this investigation.” According to her Instagram, the congresswoman’s been spending time with family.
