While giving us a tour of the White House gardens soon to become the Saffron House as the cameramen and journalists set up for Prime Minister Modi and President Donald Trump bilateral talks, Journalist Aarti Tikoo later asks some interesting questions about USAID corruption. The President known for his criticism of propaganda-driven journalists which he often puts in their place, praised Aarti before answering her question.
“Over the past 25 years, I have taken up numerous causes as a journalist for the sake of the common citizens of India, particularly in Kashmir. Throughout my career, I have paid a heavy price for speaking truth to power, including during my 2019 testimony at the US Congress. Now, five years later, I am back, still asking tough questions about the swamp. Today, it was great to speak up and pose questions at the Oval Office in the White House before President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the challenges to electoral democracy within both the US and India”.-Aarti Tikoo
