Video : Namaslay – Comedy Horror Movie Exposing Appropriation Of Yoga

A reimagining of masala cinema, Namaslay is a pyroclastic, genre-smashing horror satire that eviscerates the appropriation of Yoga in the West—proving culture is the blood that keeps the dead alive.
Critiques how Western spaces strip yoga of its roots, turning a sacred, shared cultural practice into an expensive, commodified lifestyle

What happens when the commercialization of yoga meets a sinister supernatural force hiding in plain sight? Namaslay is here to answer that question as it dropped its official trailer, and it is one of the more unique genre offerings heading to theatres this summer.

The indie horror satire follows Gayatri (Kirunthuja Srikanth-Talim), a woman who joins an elite Los Angeles yoga studio only to discover something sinister hiding beneath its polished exterior. Inspired by Indian masala cinema and blending horror, comedy and cultural satire, the film also stars Alicia Mitchell-Mangual, Angela Sant’Albano, Usha Krishnan and Christina Moore.

Written and directed by Rish and Kanish in their feature film debut. Namaslay opens in AMC Theatres in New York and Los Angeles on August 6 before expanding nationwide August 13.
