A true testament to the ability of these renowned Nepalese warriors is praise for their prowess from friend and foe alike. Indian Army Chief of Staff Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, once stated “If a man says he is not afraid of dying, he is either lying or is a Gurkha.” Prince Charles once said, “In the world there is only one secure place, that’s when you are between Gurkhas.” Osama bin Laden once claimed he would “eat Americans alive” if he had Gurkhas on his side. Adolf Hitler said of them, “If I had Gurkhas, no armies in the world would defeat me.”
The Queen’s Gurkha Engineers’ personnel showed off their skills in Cyprus by performing their powerful Khukuri or kukri knives display to mark the Hindu festival of Holi recently. Interesting that a ‘Pagan’ Hindu warrior regiment in the army in the West and often hired in other countries for their fighting skills and bravery but not going around dressed as Gandhi talking about Ahimsa either. But doesn’t this all go against Hinduism which is about being peaceful nonstop even if you are being attacked? Is this proof of the dreaded ‘Global Hindutva’ influence that’s even giving Freddy Krueger nightmares?
Not really as Hinduism does encourage warfare known as Dharam Yudh as the last resort to defend Dharma when under attack. Its very clear in the Gita and with examples set in the Ramayana and other Hindu texts where it goes as far as stating that not defending the vulnerable and innocent is seen as pure cowardice. Even in Muslim diaries invading India, they note that these Hindu kafirs were always ready to die in battle for their ‘false’ Gods.
In later British colonial diaries, they point out how the Indian soldiers that ‘mutinied’ and were sentenced to death often would put the noose around their own necks proudly during the execution with a smile saying, ‘I’ll be back’ in the next life like the Terminator to take revenge.
Gurkhas or Gorkhas with their war cries ‘Jai Maa kali, Ayo Gorkhali’ (Hail goddess Mahakali, The Gorkhas Are Here) are named after the 8th century Hindu warrior-saint Guru Gorakhnath, who gave them their famous ‘holi’ ahimsa Kukri curved penknives first to Hindu warrior Bappa Rawal.
According to legend Bappa Rawal a ‘rowdy’ teenager in hiding still not fallen victim to ‘wokeism’, came upon the warrior saint while on a hunting expedition with friends in the jungles of Rajasthan. Bappa Rawal chose to stay behind and care for the warrior saint, who was in deep meditation. When Guru Gorkhanath awoke, he was pleased with the devotion of Bappa Rawal.
The Guru gave him the Kukri knife, the famous curved dagger of the present day Gurkhas. The legend continues that he told Bappa that he and his people would henceforth be called Gurkhas, the disciples of the Guru Gorkhanath, and their bravery would become world famous. He then instructed Bappa Rawal, and his Gorkhas to stop the advance of the Caliphate armies, who were invading Afghanistan (which at that time was a Hindu/Buddhist nation).
Bappa Rawal took his Gurkhas and liberated Afghanistan – originally named Gandhar, from which the present-day Kandahar derives its name. He and his Gorkhas stopped the initial Islamic advance of the 8th century in the Indian subcontinent for the time being.
In September 2010, Sergeant Dipprasad Pun of the 1st Battalion the Royal Gurkha Rifles single-handedly fought off 30 Taliban soldiers in Helmand Province. Pun was keeping guard on the roof of a checkpoint when the Taliban approached from all sides with rocket-propelled grenades and AK-47s.
It took less than an hour for Pun to kill them all. He used all of his ammunition — 400 rounds and 17 grenades and a mine — to defeat them. After his ammo ran out, a Taliban fighter climbed up to the roof Pun was able to stop him with a machine-gun tripod that Pun threw at him. Pun was given a Conspicuous Gallantry Cross, the second-highest British military decoration awarded for bravery. [Source: Jonathan Schifman, Popular Mechanics, September 18, 2015]
On Sep. 2, 2010, when Bishnu Prasad Shrestha was returning home after a voluntary retirement from the Indian Army, the train incident happened. At around midnight on the Maurya Express train from Ranchi to Gorakhpur, 40 armed bandits boarded the train and started looting the passengers. He allowed himself to be robbed by the gun- and knife-toting train robbers. When they soon began to mess with an 18-year-old girl in front of her parents, who were watching helplessly, he couldn’t sit down any longer. Shrestha lost it.
He took out his Khukuri and fought the entire group of 40 robbers single-handedly, killing three of them and injuring eight others. The rest fled. After the incident, he explained:
“They started snatching jewelry, cell phones, cash, laptops and other belongings from the passengers. They had carried out their robbery with swords, blades and pistols. The pistols may have been fake as they didn’t fire. The girl cried for help, saying ´You are a soldier, please save a sister.’ I prevented her from being raped, thinking of her as my own sister.
During the fight, he took a serious knife wound on his left hand and the girl took a small cut on her neck. He was able to recover what the bandits stole, 200 cell phones, 40 laptops, a significant amount of jewelry, and nearly $10,000 in cash.
When the intended rape victim’s family offered him a large cash reward, he refused it, saying:
“Fighting the enemy in battle is my duty as a soldier. Taking on the thugs on the train was my duty as a human being.” – Source
We have come across some Gurkhas here who have been a bit peeved with the rise of Hinduphobia. So this extreme hate against Hindus is making the whole Hindu community aware and this anger against the so-called ‘left-wing’ progressive’ liberal’ whites is growing. Their Hinduphobia will trigger off the wrong type of Hindus if they keep on promoting hinduphobic racism especially when they keep on calling Yogi Adityanath a ‘far-right Hindu supremacist’ forgetting he’s also from the Guru Gorakhnath sect.
Not that we back it but in the future, we wouldn’t be surprised if some Gurkha types turn up at the Guardian or BBC HQ to do a Holi display because the only message these whites and their subservient brown-faced GungaDins keep on sending out is that ‘we only respect you when we fear you’.
A temple has been officially opened to meet the spiritual needs of a Gurkha unit that has recently moved to Colchester’s Merville Barracks. The new space has been created at the old Sergeants’ Mess building and a ceremony was held to dedicate it as a place of worship for soldiers and members of 15 Air Assault Support Squadron Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment (QOGLR). Earlier this year, the Gurkha logisticians were moved from their barracks in Oxfordshire and welcomed back to Colchester as part of the British Army’s global response force, after its expansion in size and capabilities as part of the Army’s Future Soldier vision.
