Katy Perry Just Offended India With An Instagram Post

We’ve all done it.

One minute you’re absent-mindedly uploading memes to Instagram – just having a bit of fun with it, joining in with the #conversation – and before you know it, you’ve incurred the vengeful wrath of the second most populated nation on planet Earth.

American singer songwriter Katy Perry landed herself in hot water this week after uploading a picture of Hindu goddess Kali to her Instagram, alongside the caption ‘current mood’.

Regarded as a divine protector within Hinduism, she was attacked by Instagram users who felt her post lacked respect.

 reported that one user wrote:

“Please Katy !! Don’t use such type of Indian God’s and goddess’ pics to represent our mood..Do you know what this pic means and what’s the story behind it.”

Another said: “We don’t care about your mood…..you should delete this post otherwise Indians soon change their mood.”

A third one said: “How ridiculous this? You don’t have permission to upload a picture of our goddess on this f**king social media and embarrassing our culture.”

One more said: “Are you serious? You’re using pics of our Goddesses as memes?

For what it’s worth, the former Christian pop singer has denounced the religion of her birth, telling CBN: “I’m not Buddhist, I’m not Hindu, I’m not Christian, but I still feel like I have a deep connection with God,”
